Taman Nasional Alas Purwo


Taman Nasional Alas Purwo, adalah taman nasional yang terletak di kecamatan Tegaldlimo, Kabupaten Purwoharjo, Banyuwangi.

Taman nasional ini memiliki luas 43.420 ha yang terdiri dari: Zona Inti (Sanctuary Zone), Zona Rimba (Wilderness Zone), Zona Pemanfaatan (Intensive Zone) dan Zona Penyangga (Buffer Zone). Taman Nasional Alas Purwo merupakan kawasan hutan hujan dataran rendah dan terdapat sedikitnya 584 jenis tumbuhan seperti, rumput, herba, semak, liana dan pohon.

Tumbuhan khas dan endemik pada taman nasional ini yaitu sawo kecik (Manilkara kauki) dan bambu manggong (Gigantochloa manggong). Tumbuhan lainnya adalah ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum), kepuh (Sterculia foetida), keben (Barringtonia asiatica), dan 13 jenis bambu.

Taman Nasional Alas Purwo juga merupakan habitat dari beberapa satwa liar seperti lutung budeng (Trachypithecus auratus auratus), banteng (Bos javanicus javanicus), ajag (Cuon alpinus javanicus), burung merak (Pavo muticus), ayam hutan (Gallus gallus), rusa (Cervus timorensis russa), macan tutul (Panthera pardus melas), dan kucing bakau (Prionailurus bengalensis javanensis). Satwa langka dan dilindungi seperti penyu lekang (Lepidochelys olivacea), penyu belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea), penyu sisik (Eretmochelys imbricata), dan penyu hijau (Chelonia mydas) yang biasanya sering mendarat di pantai Selatan taman nasional ini pada bulan Januari - September.
