Pantai Ngagelan - Banyuwangi


Pantai Ngagelan terletak di sebelah barat Trianggulasi, 8 Km dari pusat kota Banyuwangi. Selain sebagai obyek wisata, pantai ini juga merupakan tempat penetasan telur penyu semi alami.

Terdapat 4 jenis penyu dari keseluruhan 6 jenis penyu di Indonesia dan 7 jenis di dunia yang mendarat di pantai ini, yaitu: penyu Lekang atau Abu-abu (Lepidochelys olivaceae), Penyu Sisik (Eretmochelys imbricata), Penyu Belimbing (Dermochelys coreacea), dan Penyu Hijau (Chelonia mydas). Diantara keempat Penyu tersebut, Penyu Lekang/Abu-abu adalah jenis dominan yang mendarat dan bertelur di Pantai Ngagelan.

Selama ini Pantai Ngagelan merupakan tujuan utama bagi para peneliti yang datang dari berbagai latar belakang dan merupakan pusat dari kegiatan pengumpulan telur penyu dari Pantai Pancur sampai Cungur dengan panjang garis pantai sekitar 18 km.

Untuk mencapai pantai Ngagelan bisa dijangkau dengan kendaraan roda empat atau dua dari Pos Rowobendo menuju ke arah Barat atau dijangkau dari Trianggulasi dengan berjalan kaki melalui pantai.

Dengan keadaan hamparan pasir pantai yang bersih, ditambaha dengan kombinasi hutan mangrove dan hutan tropis yang masih hijau dan alami menjadi alasan untuk penyu merasa nyaman bertelur di pantai ini. Pada bulan April - Juni, saat angin pesat dari timur membawa udara hangat ke pesisir pulau Jawa, penyu-penyu dari laut selatan akan mendarat ke bibir pantai Ngagelan.
