Desa Kemiren


Desa Kemiren adalah salah satu Desa Adat di Banyuwangi. Desa wisata ini terletak di Kecamatan Glagah, Banyuwangi. Desa Kemiren terkenal dengan kebudayaan Osing yang kental, dimana pemerintah pun menetapkan sebagai cagar budaya dan pengembangan Desa Wisata Suku Osing.

Dari sejarah diceritakan bahwa masyarakat desa Kemiren berasal dari orang-orang yang mengasingkan diri dari Kerajaan Majapahit, di masa keruntuhan terakhir tahun 1478 M. Masyarakat yang mengasingkan diri tersebut juga tersebar di wilayah Gunung Bromo (Suku Tengger) di Kabupaten Probolinggo dan beberapa lari ke Pulai Bali. Mereka yang tinggal dan menetap di Banyuwangi akhirnya mendirikan kerajaan Blambangan dengan corak budaya Hindu – Buddha, sama seperti Majapahit.

Kerajaan Blambangan itupun berkuasa selama 200 tahun sebelum jatuh ke kekuasaan kerajaan Islam Mataram, tahun 1743 M. Sampai saat ini, beberapa penduduk yang ada di desa Kemiren masih melakukan beberapa kebiasaan dan kultur yang sama sejak jaman nenek moyang mereka. Salah satunya bisa dilihat dari cara mereka bercocok tanam. Masyarakat desa Kemiren menggelar tradisi selamatan sejak menanam benih, saat padi mulai berisi, hingga panen. Saat masa panen tiba, petani menggunakan ani-ani diiringi tabuhan angklung dan gendang yang dimainkan di pematang-pematang sawah. Saat proses menumbuk padi pun, para wanita memainkan tradisi Gedhogan, yakni proses memukul-mukul lesung dan alu sehingga menimbulkan bunyi layaknya musik instrumental..
